Former Wyoming Public Service Commissioner Joins Prometheus Hyperscale

EVANSTON, WY  – Prometheus Hyperscale, a leader in hyperscale data center development, today announces the appointment of Mary Throne as its General Counsel, beginning August 4. In this role, Ms. Throne will oversee all legal functions for the organization, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting strategic growth initiatives across the company’s national infrastructure portfolio.

“Mary brings to Prometheus a rare combination of deep legal expertise, public service leadership, and an unwavering commitment to our communities in Wyoming” said Trevor Neilson, President of Prometheus Hyperscale. “Mary’s distinguished career in state government, regulatory policy, and nonprofit leadership will be invaluable as we work to evolve our work in Wyoming and beyond.”

Most recently, Ms. Throne served as a Commissioner on the Wyoming Public Service Commission (PSC), including a term as Chair. During her tenure, she played a critical role as the Commission dealt with complex issues related to rates and affordability, transmission, and the integration of renewable energy. She represented Wyoming nationally and regionally working with colleagues on their shared energy challenges, including grid reliability and wildfire mitigation. Her experience navigating utility regulation at the highest-level uniquely positions her to support Prometheus Hyperscale’s partnerships with energy providers and regulatory agencies across the country.

Born and raised in Campbell County, Wyoming, Ms. Throne earned her A.B. in History from Princeton and subsequently earned her law degree from Columbia Law School.

After college Ms. Throne volunteered in Thailand, returning to Wyoming after law school. She first represented the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, followed by private practice where she advised clients on energy and environmental issues. She served a decade in the Wyoming House of Representatives, including 6 years in leadership. Governor Mark Gordon appointed Ms. Throne to the Wyoming Public Service Commission in 2019, following her run for Wyoming governor.

Ms. Throne’s leadership extends beyond government service: she has been a tireless advocate for women through her work with the Wyoming Women’s Foundation Advisory Board and as an Emeritus Board Member of the Wyoming Women’s Legislative Caucus. She is also a founding board member of the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative.

Mary Throne resides in Cheyenne with her husband. They have three adult sons. Her lifelong ties to Wyoming’s land, values, and people reinforce Prometheus Hyperscale’s commitment to building data infrastructure in harmony with community needs and environmental stewardship.

“I am excited to take on this new role at Prometheus Hyperscale,” said Mary Throne. “Wyoming is a state with abundant energy resources and AI needs energy.  Developing infrastructure for the age of AI requires collaboration to take advantage of the opportunities and I look forward to working together with all stakeholders to achieve Prometheus’ vision of building data center infrastructure that is forward thinking and beneficial, not just for Wyoming, but for the region and the country.”
