Energy Executive and Former CEO BP

Bernard is a former CEO of BP, one of the world’s largest energy companies. He worked for BP for 32 years in a variety of roles and geographies. During his time as CEO,  he  led a strategy to transform BP from an international oil company (IOC) to an integrated energy company (IEC).

Bernard is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Irish Academy of Engineering and the Energy Institute. He is a member of the Board of Focusing Capital on the Long Term (FCLT) and a Strategic Advisor to Cognite.

Bernard has an Honorary Doctorate and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from University College Dublin, and a Master’s in Management from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Today, Bernard is focused increasingly on the intersection of Energy, AI, Finance and Sustainability.
