John Gross
Chief Technology Advisor
John Gross III is Chief Technology Advisor of Prometheus Hyperscale. He leverages 20 years of experience in Data Center and Central Plant design and commissioning to bring operations-focused designs to clients and projects with a wide range of scopes and complexities.
Gross has been the principal mechanical engineer for clients including ExxonMobil, Schlumberger, and 3M on projects including Hyperscale, Enterprise, Colocation, and HPC Data Centers, Public Service Answering Points (PSAP), EMP Shielded control facilities, large campus central plants, and more.
With 16 years of liquid-cooled data center experience, he is an officer in American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) TC9.9, ASHRAE SSPC 127, and a former Co-Lead for the Open Compute Project’s Advanced Cooling Facilities subproject.
Gross has co-authored numerous liquid-cooling white papers with ASHRAE and the Open Compute Project in addition to several ASHRAE TC9.9 publications.
Gross is a Registered Professional Engineer and holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science, Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida.
